RI 2030 Priority: Advancing Infrastructure and Energy

Rhode Island is leveraging investments to advance critical infrastructure priorities that drive economic growth and productivity, including improving roads and bridges. Public transit expands access to jobs and training, clean water and sewer systems protect public health, and broadband connectivity supports business growth, remote work, and innovation. At the same time, strengthening cybersecurity across these systems is essential to safeguarding sensitive data, maintaining reliable operations, and protecting the services Rhode Islanders rely on every day.

Rhode Island’s approach to energy and climate policy must reflect current realities. Since the enactment of the Act on Climate, the State has made meaningful progress toward reducing emissions. However, the Trump Administration’s rollback of clean-energy initiatives, disruptions to offshore wind development, and withdrawal of critical federal funding have materially destabilized the framework that states relied upon nationwide.  Rhode Island remains committed to reducing emissions, but meaningful progress depends on a stable federal partnership that does not impose unsustainable costs on families and businesses.  In response, Rhode Island must continue to reduce emissions, strengthening environmental resilience, and lower energy costs for ratepayers, while advancing an all-of-the-above energy supply strategy that reflects evolving federal and regional conditions and ensures a reliable, resilient power supply for Rhode Islanders.
